Marie Gaudard


Marie holds a Bachelor degree in Public Administration Law from the University of Bordeaux, in France. During her studies, she has spent a year in Sciences-Po Bordeaux. She also holds a Postgraduate Master’s Degree with honours in International Law, specialized in Law of State Rebuilding in post-conflict situations from the University of Aix-en-Provence. She wrote her dissertation on The Awareness, the Support, and the Protection of Victims and Witnesses of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Crimes During Conflicts. Her research focuses on the existing legal and operational frameworks that are relevant to sexual and gender-based victims in Uganda  and highlighted the difficulties surrounding witness and victim protection during the transitional and criminal justice processes. During her studies, Marie also interned at the International Centre for Transitional Justice in Johannesburg, South Africa for ten months, where she was supervised by the senior attorney, Mr. Howard Varney.
