Bruxelles, 5 June 2022
Our friend and pianist Nicola Cantisani has launched the “Playing for human rights” initiative with the aim of supporting the campaigns of No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) against impunity, violations of human rights in the world and in particular against female genital mutilation (FGM).
Cantisani is performing every Sunday in Brussels, in Place Jourdan, from 12:00 at the restaurant “Siendas”. Those who pass will be able to enjoy his music and make a donation that will be entirely devolved to NPWJ’s initiatives. In particular, through its “BanFGM” campaign, NPWJ has constantly pushed for the adoption and application of legislation – supported by sanctions – and the prohibition of all forms of FGM in the world with the aim to successfully combat this form of gender-based violence, protect victims and put an end to impunity for the perpetrators. Despite more than 20 years of awareness campaigns to promote the elimination of FGM, millions of women and girls, in Africa, in Europe and beyond, are still victims or at risk of suffering this violence. This battle has not yet been won and, to do so, we also need your help!
